Thank you so much for this thoughtful post sharing with us the Sublime and ineffable gift of God that is Advent/Nativity Whom in His Divine Council and Will has bestowed upon the world in general but The Church in particular! It's a joy to hear the Anglican Church's expression of it! The Trinity College Choir is one my favorite and never cease to offer Beauty in perfection as they strum their vocal harps to The Lord! At 32:50 is the song," O Emmanuel," this is one of the most beautiful versions I've heard if not the most! It's an all time favorite that I'm sure I've repeated a billion times being so short hehe!! A Blessed Advent/Nativity to all who are celebrating! Our Saviour is Coming!!! Glory To The Father, and to The Son and To The Holy Spirit now and ever and unto ages and ages, Amen!!!

This service is just magnificent! I don't understand how such a land can have the scriptures, plus such a rich Church history and culture, music, etc., and still have so many agnostics and atheists running around nowadays. Makes no sense.

This is wonderful. I have been hoping for a new recording after years of listening to the outstanding 2011 and 2012 recordings. This recording is sublime in both audio and video quality. Thank you for offering this service to the world. God bless and Merry Christmas to you and all those, who prepare for Christmas by watching/listening to this service.

I thought I couldn’t transcend in music anymore, since my father (my whole life, long story) killed himself. Since I’ve been absolutely fortunate with my own daughter. Gifted and is awarded every year at every level. This is her 6th form, us oldies know what that is, she got prefect and latin/English award , very proud but her school sang this and it made me cry, apparently they were finalists globally so watch this space.

A very classical and dignified college chapel and some quality music and singing (though I'm no expert). The relatively moderate light is perfect for evening prayer or evensong. If I had to find something I'd do differently it is allowing a more recent Bible translation for the scripture readings and not just the Authorized Version (KJV) with its 400 year old English. Only in sleep I see their faces, Children I played with when I was a child, Louise comes back with her brown hair braided, Annie with ringlets warm and wild. Only in sleep Time is forgotten- What may have come to them, who can know? Yet we played last night as long ago, And the dollhouse stood at the turn of the stair. (Soloist) The years had not sharpened their smooth round faces, I met their eyes and found them mild- Do they, too, dream of me, I wonder, And for them am I, am I too a child? Am I a child? A child? Fantastic purity of tone (love the colour of the womens’ voices) and the legato flexible long range phrasing plus responsiveness to word painting and expressive counterpoint - superb! Not easy to pace this piece without chaotic rush, or pedantic dirge - bravo to the fluidity and musicianship of this ensemble - so responsive and expressive. Memorizing is key to that responsiveness to both the conductor and fellow singers. This performance really breathed life into the evocative text. Such a joy to hear this performance.

Stars, you are the heavens' flock Tangling your pale wool across the night sky Stars, you’re bits of oily fleece catching On barbs of darkness to swirl in black wind You appear, disappear by thousands Scattered wide to graze but never straying While I, a mere shepherd of these words, am lost What can I do but build a small blaze And feed it with branches the trees let fall: That twiggy clatter strewn along the ground And lichen crusting such dead limbs glows silver, glows white The earthfood for a fire so unlike and like your own Oh, what can I do but build a small blaze
